The GoGo Trust
As a church we continue to support a great work near the town of Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
There, paediatric nurse Sharron Frood has co-founded the GoGo Trust, whose aim is to love and care for widows and orphans, who have lost family members primarily to a growing HIV pandemic. It was a real honour that Sharron came to speak at H.E.R.C. recently.

Sharron spoke passionately about her work in the townships, and radiated a compassion and urgency that was both challenging and infectious. The simple message was this - true blessing lies in seeing other's lives changed, rather than seeing our own improved.
A recent study showed that in some parts of South Africa, up to 1 in 5 people have the HIV virus. With this rate of infection, a whole generation is being wiped out, leaving grandmothers, or in African, GoGos, to look after their grandchildren whose parents have either died, or who are incapable of caring for.
God is providing a door of hope for those in the valley of distress - the GoGo Trust provides the grandmothers with love, spiritual support and nutritious meals so that they are equipped to provide for the growing number of AIDS orphans that are left to their care.
Similarly, the Trust also provides nutritious meals and care to the children. The Vukukhanye pre-school (in association with the Harvest Christian Church) hosts a Sunday School, parties and events for the children, as well as getting them ready for school entry so that they receive an education they would otherwise miss out on.
